Wrong. Now, let's continue with the OPs question and not let this turn into a flame fest.

Since nobody knows what "hard mode" will entail, it's difficult to say. Mesmers are gaining acceptance, but still not as widely-accepted into groups as they might be. If hard mode means bigger groups at higher levels, then mesmers will still be the odd man out most of the time. If, on the other hand, hard mode means enemies with better skillbars and tactics, mesmers might gain a lot of ground, because mesmers are EXCELLENT at disrupting tactics and making monsters pay for using all those skills on their bar.

I for one hope that it's the second. More enemies isn't harder, jsut more tedious. Enemies that have well-built skillbars and halfway decent Ai are much more fun and challenging.

Never had an easier time with any mission than when there was a mesmer in the group, so don't listen to that boob Coloneh. He doesn't know what he's talking about. Good luck, and fight the good fight.

Is making a Mesmer for playing in PvE a good use of your time? If you find that you enjoy playing one, then yes! Absolutely. I've been playing mine for over a year and have had a great time running around the PvE side of things.

I've found that PUGs who don't subscribe to the "Mesmers suck in PvE" mentality are much, much, more successful than ones that do.

I guess you are all right about mesmers in PvE, I never experienced trouble with it, and did not experience a lot of trouble finishing all three campaigns. However, many group(leaders) do not believe the effectivity of mesmers, and will compensaet with either nukers tanks or monks. Its just that simple.

But I bet you can do hardmode best with guildies/friends, and eventually some heroes.

At the end of the day Nukers + Tanks + Monks will succeed in almost any mission or quest.

I reckon Mesmer's need to make a comeback. I think I'll remake my old one.

Here's my view on it: Mesmers will not get into pick up groups, but pick up groups are usually not as good as heroes and hench (if you have Nightfall). If you are going to do heroes and hench, then choose your class wisely, choose something that heroes and hench cannot do well (usually AI limitations). I find hero Monk/Mesmers to be godly because they can rapidly refill their energy with power drain, leech signet (and perhaps drain enchantment if you need enchantment removal). The AI interrupt speed hits succeeds every time. Therefore, I don't like playing as a Monk, cause a hero monk is very good. However, hero and hench nukers tend to be weaker because they don't use good target collection and they use their spells in the wrong order. Hero necros and mesmers also have poor target selection, whereas Hero rangers can do bow interrupts better than humans can (they Barrage fairly well too). Hench warriors work pretty well since they just go after what you call (and skill selection is probably less important for warriors than casters).

If you do play Mesmer, don't play interrupts. Heroes are too good at interrupting already (I always give my heroes mesmer secondary with to gain energy through power drain and leech signet).

As stated before, teams who choose to accept a mesmer have a much higher success rate, my mesmer has never failed any mission and has completed all campaigns (granted, a few missions with hero's, but so did all of my other characters).

This of course isnt just due to the mesmer, its the teams skill as a whole. But that adds weight to the efficiency of mesmers in PvE.
